Gilligan's

I really did not know what to expect going to Gilligan's seafood restaurant. It seems like they are all over the place with locations in Beaufort, Goose Creek, John's Island, Moncks Corner, and Summerville. We decided to check out the spot on 160 Main Rd, John's Island, SC.

I was happy to see a prominent "A" rating on the glass at the front entryway. Off to a great start. We went during lunch time on a Winter Saturday in December. Yes, this post is way behind as are many. As we entered, we had full pick of where to sit so we chose the patio area. The establishment did not disappoint with a beachy, outdoorsy feel with the decorations. There was a laid back vibe that we enjoyed.

The friendly server took our drink orders and was happy to also take our food orders as well. I chose the Gilligan's Seafood Platter. Lady Poe chose a bowl of She-Crab soup and ordered a salad with no additional toppings. Shortly after, our drinks arrived with a small basket of Hush Puppies. The Hush Puppies were very flavorful and I made a mental note to try to duplicate at home.

She-Crab soup had a lot of flavor, however it was not Poe's favorite. She gave it a 3 out of 5 rating for flavor. She gave the value the same rating. The Gilligan's Seafood Platter in my opinion was fantastic. It was flavorful, filling, quite satisfying. I went through it all and did not mind the price. I give a 4 out of 5 for flavor and a 4.5 out of 5 for value.

During our meal, our server was nowhere to be seen but they have a really good system of table checks as another server came to top off our drinks and ask us if we needed anything else. We were pleased at the attentiveness shown at this location and this resonated well with us.
